Advocate To Win

rating on Amazon

In Advocate to Win, Heather shares the ten tools readers can use to ask for what they want, and get it, time and time again.

As an award-winning trial attorney, Heather quickly realized that she didn’t win because she was an extraordinary advocate. She won because she gave her clients the tools to advocate for themselves.

When they honed these tools, her clients became their own best advocates.

Now readers can use the same tools to advocate for their teams, their products/services, their families, their ideas and themselves.

Heather Hansen’s new book, Advocate to Win: 10 Tools to Ask for What you Want and Get It, is a remarkable read with stories, discussion, and specific tools to learn how to be your own best advocate. You’ll discover how to work with what is called your “inner and outer jury,” how to use the ten tools (the words for each tool encompasses a chapter), and the 5 C’s of an advocate. All this sounds quite boring, but let me be honest-it is not! There are stories, practical tips of how to use each tool, and I especially enjoyed the descriptions of the hands on activities the author uses with her clients. I had many take always but perhaps my favorite was the suggestion of a question journal. As the author tells us “…questions have enormous power.” (p.61) Even the format of the book is user friendly for all with the ten words/chapters and at the end of each chapter there is a Precedent and Summary. I ended up reading a chapter a day and it provided me the time to reflect and even take notes on how to apply each tool to my own life. Well done Heather Hansen! I am off to purchase the book for my daughter, daughter in law, and my nieces. Everyone could benefit from using your tools to “win” at what they want to do.
